potter and butler spotlight

Good morning!  Last night as I was updating my Favorites page, I noticed a blog post at Potter and Butler highlighting the beautiful I Belong place card poms that they made for our wedding.

Remember these?

I’ve been raving about these girls, Emily and Carrie, since the package of poms arrived on my doorstep.  Their lovely products include cupcake toppers, garlands, poms, cake wreaths and of course the place card poms.  You can find all of their wares at their Etsy shop or on their beautiful website.

I’m so excited that their poms were part of our big day, you can check out their post about our wedding here.

If you need any cheer or merriment added to your celebrations, these are the girls to turn too.  Their products are adorable, inspirational and so much fun.

I’ve asked before and I’ll ask again…

Who are your favorite handmade or Etsy vendors?

so much to blog, so little time!

It seems like I have been so busy the last two days that I’ve barely had time to sit down, let alone blog.  Instead of trying to squeeze everything in, I’ll just share the highlights, some of which I’ll elaborate on later.

1) Meeting at Sweet Cakes Design:

I know that I already wrote a whole post about this but, I am just so excited about our cake and all of the flavors.  I also think the cake and mini cakes are going to be just gorgeous.  On top of that, Barb’s enthusiasm for the project and her job was totally infectious.  She made a career change late in life and seems so thrilled with it – definitely something to give some thought to.  What could I be doing that I really love?

2) Goat Cheese Salad

Vegetables have never really been my thing.  Growing up, I’d eat green beans, corn on the cob and baked carrots drowning in brown sugar.  Until maybe two years ago, this hadn’t really changed.  As I’ve gotten older and started to think more about what I’m putting into my body, I’ve opened up to more vegetables.  Salad was one of the harder additions to my diet and I still don’t love it.  First of all, I hate dressing.  Just don’t like any dressing that I’ve ever tried.  I like salad with fruit on it (and love fruit salad) but would rather be eating something else most of the time.  Yesterday for lunch, I found what might be the perfect salad.  It is spinach with carrots, cinnamon fuji apples, candied pecans and goat cheese.

I removed the sprouts and tomato.  This salad was so good that I saved my second half for lunch today.  I think the candied pecans really helped, they were awesome and countered the bitter taste of the spinach perfectly.

3) Wedding Shower

I had another wedding shower today with the aunts and cousins on my dad’s side.  It was really lovely but deserves a little more recognition so I’ll blog more later.  It’s always nice to get together outside of the major holidays and I am feeling very blessed and lucky to come from such a great family, we had a great time.

4) Another Etsy Arrival

When I got home from the shower a package was waiting for me.

I am such a sucker for package.  How adorable is this with that cute label and the blue striped twine?  Love it.

Inside the package from Silver Pencils was the hair flower that I’m going to wear at the reception.  Brandi makes such adorable and affordable hair accessories.  They’re simple and beautiful and I’m so excited to wear mine on our wedding.  She also has a great blog that you should check out.

Isn’t she purdy?

That’s all for now.  This business has made me awful sleepy.  Todd and I are going to attempt to watch an episode of How I Met Your Mother.  Anyone want to takes bets on how many minutes it will take us to fall asleep?  My bet is 7 and a half.

Good night!

etsy wedding packages

When I got home from my wedding hair and makeup trial run there were two packages waiting on the doorstep for me.  I absolutely love getting packages, they almost always are filled with fun goodies.

The first package was from Love from the Thumb, a great Etsy shop that made our wedding “guest book”.  Love from the Thumb is just across the state in Royal Oak and I love that we found a semi-local seller.  The package had the extra touches of ribbon and their “Love” symbol on the bottom.  Cute details gets me every time.

I’ll wait to post a picture of the “guest book” until after the wedding because I want to keep it a surprise for now.

The second package was also from an Etsy seller, Emily and Carrie from Potter and Butler.  These two girls were so amazing to work with.  They worked with me on a custom order for their I Belong Place Card Poms and they are the most adorable things I have every seen.  When they sent me this picture of the finished product this week I honestly teared up.

It was the first time that I really felt like everything is really coming together for the wedding.

The girls at Potter and Butler make beautiful handmade cake toppers, garlands, placecards and poms.  I’m in love with their products and hope to work with them again in the future.

draft day

After work I went straight to Power Vinyasa class at The Funky Buddha.  Cindy was teaching tonight and her classes always make me sweat – a lot.  Tonight’s class was no exception and I left sweaty, stretched and worked out, in such a good way.  We tried a few new (to me) poses tonight including cougar and flying frog.  Tried is an important word here, cougar was one thing but flying frog was quite another – maybe next time!

When I got home there were three packages waiting to greet me.  One was a wedding gift, the other a thank you gift from the bridesmaids dress company (side note:  I should really be thanking them, they’ve been AMAZING to work with.  If you want to work with a great team, get in touch with Anna Elyse Bridesmaids, they rock!) and finally, a package sent straight from Canada.  What was in this package from the north?  My latest etsy.com purchase, a custom hanger for my wedding dress made by My Amber Coloured World.  I had no idea what I was getting today because her service was so stinking fast!  I adore the hanger and can’t wait to hang my dress from it.  Amazing work Amber, thank you!

Todd’s friends were already here for the draft which meant that I basically had the house to myself.  I know that doesn’t make sense but it’s so easy to curl up on the couch next to Todd when I get home from work and waste the whole evening away together.  Needless to say, the draft took precedent and I was left to my own devices.

We ate so much food over the weekend and all I wanted was something green, believe it or not!  Normally vegetables aren’t a priority but I love green beans and we happened to have some.  To round out my dinner, I scarfed down a whole bowl of Garrett Chicago-Style popcorn that my sister brought me back from Chicago when she was in town this weekend.  I swear, that popcorn is the most amazing thing.  Even a few days out and mildly stale, it is so delicious!  The caramel corn has a slight burnt flavor to it and the cheesy popcorn is so cheesy and it stains your fingers orange, who could as for anything more?  I just love it!  We used to stand in line for hours just to get a bag of this stuff, it’s so worth it.  Thanks for the treat, sister!

The rest of my night was divvied up between watching Bones, tidying up our room and blogging, of course!

What treat would you stand in line for hours to enjoy?
