one a penny, two a penny

As you know I had a half day of work today and it was everything I hoped it would be.  Todd picked me up from work at 1:00 and I was greeted with lunch from Panera.  After scarfing down a half Tomato Mozzarella Panini, I got to work on a hot cross bun.

I honestly didn’t think that these buns existed out side of the nursery rhyme but lo and behold, there they were on Panera’s menu, how could I resist?  Thankfully, our location had them and Todd picked one up for me.  The bun was delicious and yeasty and good but my favorite part (no surprise here) was the cross of frosting on the top.

After eating our lunches quickly in the car we had a successful meeting with the event coordinator  at the Grand Rapids Art Museum and then headed over to the county clerk’s office to apply for a marriage license.  It was quick and easy and we can pick up the license on Monday.  We’re allowed to get married, phew!

We made a quick stop to re-sign our lease and then went our separate ways.  I stopped by my favorite book store, Schuler Books and picked up a few new reads and a few small gifts for my flower girls.

I went to my parents’ house after that and sat down and next thing I knew, I was taking a nap.  It was heavenly.  I didn’t wake up until my dad got home from work.  Fortunately, that was before I had to meet my mom to go pick up my wedding dress.  Unfortunately when we went to pick up my dress it didn’t quite fit right so I have to wait another week to take my dress home but it looks pretty amazing and I’m really happy with how it’s coming together.

After the fitting my mom and I met my dad for dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse and we had a darn good meal.

Steak, veggies, mashed potatoes and macaroni to share?  Yes, please.

When I got back to my parents’ I went through some old photos in search of some good shots for our wedding photo display.  I found some gems.

There were certainly a ton of some more embarrassing shots too.  Oh 90s, you were something else.

I enjoyed my little afternoon off so much!  It felt like a mini-weekend and it was so needed.  My next break will be for the wedding and honeymoon and that is just beyond!

How was your day?

How do you spend your days off?

shower photos are here

After work I went straight to Panera to grab a quick dinner before marriage mentoring.  I chose their new chili and a lemonade just because I felt like it.  Lemonade is one of my favorite things ever.  I love the association with summer and how crisp and refreshing it is.  And I like to eat it with chocolate chip cookies.  Weird, I know but it might be my favorite snack.

Our marriage mentoring session was really good tonight.

Since the wedding is only a month away – I still can’t believe it – I’m probably going to be writing a lot of wedding related posts in the next few weeks.

Tonight, I wanted to share some pictures that my wonderful, talented cousin, Rebecca, took at my bridal shower a few weeks ago.  I have the best memories of that day.  My aunts did an amazing job of throwing me a fun, thoughtful shower and I loved it so much.  I hope you enjoy the photos!

What a great group of women.  I’m lucky to have such a great family.

Who are the most important women in your life?

What’s you favorite memory with family?

friday fatigue

If my boss wouldn’t notice, I’d be doing this right now:

I’m so sleepy!  It has been a long week but only 2 more hours to go and it will be the weekend and that’s bound to wake me up.

In other news, I had to eat lunch at my desk today but that’s not so bad when a co-worker brings you soup from Panera.  Thanks, Ajdin!

I love their creamy tomato soup.  It’s a bit less acidic than regular tomato soup and paired with their baguette, it’s the perfect quick lunch combo.

This is kind of a random post, must be that Friday fatigue.

Changing subjects once again, I currently have two musical obsessions.  1) Adele.  Love that voice, girl – not to mention the piano driving your melodies, love.  Don’t you rememmbeeeerrrrrrrrrr?  2) Elijah Bossenbroek.  All piano, all the time.  My yoga studio plays his tunes every once in awhile and I’m in love.  We’re playing his music as background music during the cocktail and dinner hours at our wedding.  Love him.  These two have been getting me through my afternoons lately.

Less than an hour left now!  Then, off to Chicago.  Yay!
